The Southeast Old Threshers Reunion, one of my favorite places to be on July 4th! It was about 90 deegrees that day as I recall and the dust was sent into your nose with every step you took. The noise was music to my ears, the
whiiinnnneeeee of the sawmill, the
putt-putt of the John Deeres, the roars of all the other tractors, the
chug-chug-chug of the steam engines and the Handy Dandy Railroad, the
chuka-chuka-chuka-chuka-pow of the hit and miss engines, and the announcer yelling out about the demonstrations, vendors and the all-so-common "
please come to the announcers stand to get your child". We were there all day (probably 9 am to 6pm or so) and I loved every minute of it. They had hundreds of tractors, steam engines, and hit and miss engines; hundreds of vendors, several field demonstrations; the sawmill, rock crusher, veneer mill, shingle mill, the music hall, antique buildings, crafts, tractors pulls, horse pulls and lawnmower pulls; and the Handy Dandy Railroad. The Denton FarmPark now has 140 acres, hundreds of campsites and acres of free parking. In 2008, they will be hosting the 17th national Ford-Fordson Collectors Association Show, so that will probably bring many more tractors this year
